Your client’s wedding bouquet is more than just a beautiful arrangement — it’s a symbol of love, joy, and every unforgettable moment from their big day. At Keepsake, we believe your hard work and your client’s flowers deserve to be showcased in a way that’s as meaningful as the memories they represent. That’s where our multitude of style options comes in, including Blankets and Cherishes.

As part of Keepsake Floral’s client service protocol, each client spends up to an hour with one of our trained design specialists, making decisions on what keepsake or keepsakes the respective client desires.  One of the first decisions we help clients make is that of the layout design for a keepsake.  Two of our most popular layout designs are titled “Blanket” and “Cherish.”

Blanket Floral Keepsakes

Blankets are exactly what they sound like — a breathtaking full coverage of preserved blooms, creating the effect of a romantic wildflower field frozen in time. This design is all about celebrating the florals themselves, letting each petal and leaf shine in an artful, layered display.  Most blanket designs are enclosed within a shadowbox, as shadowboxes allow for the most effective method of displaying a multitude of flowers, within the full span of the deep picture frame, as well as a substantial available depth of each shadowbox space.

A Blanket design is literally the “blanketing” of the entire shadowbox background, with flowers and greenery displayed left to right and top to bottom within the keepsake’s interior.  As unsexy as it is, we make the comparison of the blanket design to making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich .. spreading peanut butter on that piece of bread left to right, top to bottom within the confines of the crust, is exactly the same layout as a Keepsake floral blanket.

Our design team believes a Floral Blanket design is most aesthetically pleasing when we have blooms of varying sizes, shapes and textures with which to work.  Much like a bouquet or flower arrangement with the same, these differences in bloom structure provide the ability for us to most effectively utilize the depth of each shadowbox frame, filling it as full as possible and utilizing lateral space, as well as utilizing the three-dimensional depth provided with a deep picture frame, which of course, is the definition of a shadowbox.

Cherish Floral Keepsakes

Cherishes, on the other hand, combine your flowers with something deeply personal — like a wedding invitation or a favorite photo. Whether they opt for total floral coverage framing the invitation or delicate clusters surrounding a photo, this design style adds a sense of storytelling to their Keepsake. It’s a perfect way to frame not just a moment, but the memory behind it.

Our Cherish design was coined during the first days of Keepsake Floral’s existence in 1994, and has been a popular choice for displaying flowers alongside a cherished memento (see what we did there?), enabling the keepsake to tell the complete story of the event or milestone (be it a wedding or funeral) with one glance from the artwork’s viewer.

A Cherish differs from a Blanket in several ways . . . the most obvious is the use of a photo, invitation or other printed item as it’s focus and primary design anchor.  A Cherish is less “packed” than a Blanket design, allowing the flowers to be designed in interesting and natural-looking clusters or groupings within the keepsake.

We talk about the flowers within a Cherish in terms of “dancing” or “swooping” around within the keepsake.  Our design team uses the background palette of the keepsake to “paint” a natural picture of the flowers, attempting as much as the particular flower combination will allow to create a design that mimics the most aesthetic floral design work  … which we believe is floral design work that closely resembles flowers gathered in a natural arrangement or resembles the style and movement that we see as flowers and plants grow in nature.

Again, the Cherish design is usually set in a shadowbox, as this particular keepsake type provides the most “real estate” for flowers as compared with our other flower layout options.  A printed piece of memorabilia takes up a lot of space within a keepsake, and the most efficient use of area available for the flowers is the shadowbox choice, as it provides the most area for flower placement.

These designs are made for couples who want more than just a keepsake — they want a piece of their wedding day on display, without the keepsake completely screaming “These are my wedding flowers!” or “These flowers are from my mother’s funeral or memorial service!”   The Cherish, and particularly the Blanket provide beautiful, subtle methods of flower display within their respective keepsake homes.  And, of course, every Blanket and Cherish is fully customizable, with a wide selection of frame styles, sizes, and background linings to reflect their unique love story.
